ATTENTION! Infantry-Inspired Fall Stylecast

Ahhh...Summer's lease hath all too short a date...

We loooove summer, but the shopaholic in us is itching for the next season (and no, that's not due to allergies).  Luckily, nights in Los Angeles tend to be cool, which is great for those of us who are already unearthing apparel packed away in closets, awaiting to be loved again.  And it's not even August!

If you're going shopping in the near future, here's a trendy piece you should be sure to snatch up--the infantry-inspired oversized jacket.  We can't tell you how much we are in love with this look and its versatility! You can dress it up or down, depending on the occasion!  We'd hashtag this one under #musthave and #staple.

"But Sassy Girls, how would we wear this trend?"  Glad you asked.

A few tips on looking tip-top during this military madness....

1) Don't overdo the oversized!  The jacket is already loose, so your other apparel shouldn't be.  If you plan on wearing it over a dress, short dresses are better than long ones...unless your long dress happens to be more fitted.  But then again, rules are meant to be broken.

2) If you're wearing this look with jeans, then we'd suggest sticking with either fitted jeans and not so much the boyfriend cut.  Although, in some cases this could be an exception.  Use your judgement on proportions!
We also love this look with leather skinny pants and skinny jeans.  The tighter pants with the oversized jacket look amazing in contrast.

3) Wear it over a t-shirt and use fun accessories to dress it up! The chunky chained animal necklace seen on Cara Delevingne and Rihanna, a fun new trend, is perfect for this outfit.

For some trendy accessories, check out what we've just brought in at Shop Sassy Girls

4) If you're wearing it with a T or a tank, then try pairing it up with shorts and heels! We love mixing up apparel in ways that most wouldn't normally attempt!  It adds an element of sophistication and style. Wayyy chic.

See how versatile this one staple piece can be? ;)

Send us pics of how you wear this trend to be featured on our blog and Instagram!

STACK 'EM UP- Ring Trend

Last week, at the PFW Chanel Couture fashion show, people were not just loving the line-up...but the stack-up as well! Piling on jewelry, like bracelets and rings, is nothing new in the fashion world.  But stacking rings all the way up to your nails?  That's just unheard of! Ok...it kind of excites us.

Some critics of this look worry that they may lose their rings (not to mention money spent) if they dare venture so far as the cuticle.  Their worries may be valid, but there are alternate ways to rock this look without worrying that your hard-earned cash is slipping away...literally.

Try stacking up rings of different sizes--larger ones towards the base of your fingers and thinner ones above the knuckles, so you feel more secure about their placement.

(Check out our website for this look on the left!)

It's all about having fun with it! Mix and match different metals and stones to see what meshes with your summer outfit.  Save 'em though, because this trend will be perfect for the Fall/Winter season as well.

Check out some of the looks we've selected to inspire you on your journey to couture cuticle-ism.  ;-)

ATELIER VERSACE- Fall 2013 Couture!

It has only been a year and a half since Donatella Versace returned to the world of couture fashion, and by the looks of her current Fall 2013 collection, she plans on staying for quite a while.

A mixture of embroidered black leather and net panels, adorned with crystals, sequined lace, tulle, and mink made its way down the runway this week, but that's not what's got everyone talking.  This show was all about SKIN. Intricate and asymmetrical cuts in patterns exposing just enough for the imagination to run wild. The audience reportedly went wild when they saw that returning supermodel, Naomi Campbell, who hasn't been in a Versace show in years, kicked off the show with legs for miles!

Donatella's inspiration? Black-and-white photography from the 1930s!  She described the era as a "moment about precision, about perfection, and lots of hard work," which makes sense when you see the amount of work and detail that's gone into each piece.

Take a look at some of our absolute fav picks!

Cupcake Katy on Vogue's July Cover

Top Rt: Michael Kors custom bustier & skirt
Bottom Rt: Zac Posen duchess-satin strapless dress
When we think of Katy Perry, we think over-the-top, Pepto Bismol pink everything, cupcakes and Candyland.  We imagine a world of rainbows and butterflies...and bras that shoot deadly whip cream while gummy bears stand idly by ready to attack any heartbreakers in sight.

So when we heard that Katy would be on the cover of Vogue's July edition, we imagined all of that coming into play somehow! To our surprise (and relief ?), that wasn't the case.  The cupcakes were replaced by couture and the Candyland for countryside, bringing out a more romantic ingenue in Katy rather than the tongue-in-cheek video kitten we've all grown to love. Bring on the flower appliqué's , satin, and...chickens?

Annie Leibovitz, a long time favorite photographer of Vogue's (and ours!), took Ms. Perry on this journey to minimalism, which juxtaposed with glamorous couture gowns, catapulted Katy into a whole new galaxy of gorgeousness, sans aliens and whip cream bras.  It's a little reminiscent of Scarlet O'hara meets Disney damsel in distress.

What do you think of Katy Perry's cover & spread?

Make a Splash with Sexy Swimwear 2013

Summer is finally here!  Of course, with that comes the texts inviting you to pool parties that last through September.  Let's also not forget those trips out of town with friends, like to Vegas and Palm Springs, where you'll be toasting pool side-literally.  The best part about these trips?  The light luggage, of course! Throw a few bikinis in there, some sunscreen, maybe a fedora, and you're ready to go.   The most difficult part is choosing a bathing suit!  Luckily, we're here to help.  Here are some of the hottest swimwear from the 2013 collections, most of which were featured at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show.

A really hot look that would set you apart from your friends is this vintage inspired look by swimwear designers Nicolita (Christina Milian's Havana inspired line), Lisa Blue (which is dedicated to donating a part of their profits to saving whales and dolphins) and Wildfox.  It's an homage to the pinup princess with a modern twist.  The high waisted bottoms and the strapless tops are not only flattering, but super sassy.

Not feeling the bikini and looking for a little more coverage? You're in luck.  Designers like Aqua di Lara and ANK have these gorgeous choices.  Sadly, one piece suits are looked over by most, but they really shouldn't be.  Hey, not everyone is comfortable hanging around in a two-piece, so it's good to know that there are options.  Plus, these suits really make a statement!  They hug your curves in all the right places.

If you're looking for something a little more laid back, but sexy at the same time, we found some fringe for ya. The top two suits are from Luli Fama, made for the girls who want to look playful but still make heads turn. The bottom two are from Shahs of Sunset's Lilly Ghallici's line, Have Faith and from L*Space.  Each the traditional bikini, but with a little something more.

We hope this makes things a little easier for you!  Happy shopping!

Daisy, Who? Carey Mulligan for Flaunt Magazine

Valentino S2013
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that The Great Gatsby film has been on everyone's lips.   Whether you're a major Fitzgerald fan or just want to see it for DiCaprio's hotness factor, you cannot deny what an awesome Daisy Ms. Mulligan portrays.  She  totally embodies Daisy's carefree lifestyle and charm to a tee!

Enough about Gatsby!  Let's talk about Carey Mulligan.  Mulligan has been around for a while now, acting in films like Drive and An Education, the latter being the one that helped her gain widespread recognition.  She's been quietly building her "film cred" and it wasn't until her audition for Daisy's role did her life really catapult into major stardom, which she can thank luscious Leo for since he told Luhrmann that they found their one and only Daisy as soon as Mulligan left the audition.  *Sigh*

Balenciaga S 2013

Recently, our rising starlet appeared on the cover and featured spread of Flaunt magazine, where she says good-bye to her Daisy facade and hello to high fashion.  It is so exciting to see her transform into a character we haven't really seen before!  She looks incredibly modern and chic in the 2013 Spring Collections of Valentino, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbanna, and especially Alexander McQueen.  There's definitely an air of surrealism in this spread and we Love it, with a capital L!

See for yourself!
